Kanye West donates $1m to charity for Kim Kardashian's birthday

Kanye West is known for giving his wife Kim Kardashian extravagant gifts, but his latest present also happens to be thoughtful. For Kardashian’s 39th birthday, the rapper donated $1m (£776,205) to prison reform charities in her name, a gesture that the reality star shared on Twitter Tuesday. “I got amazing gifts from my whole family and Kanye [got] me the most amazing bags,” Kardashian wrote. “But he also donated $1m to my favourite charities that work so hard on prison reform on my behalf from him and the kids. This makes my heart so happy!” The makeup mogul, who turned 39 on Monday, attached a picture to the tweet of a “certificate of donation,” which shows that West, as well as the couple’s children, North, Saint, Chi and Psalm, donated $1m to Cut 50, Buried Alive Project, Equal Justice Initiative, and Anti-Recidivism Coalition. Kardashian, who announced earlier this year that she would be pursuing a career in law, helped free more than 17 prisoners in 2019.

Kardashians spark outrage with 'insensitive' food fight

The Kardashian family is facing backlash from fans after sharing a clip from an upcoming episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians that shows them having a food fight. In the clip, shared on Instagram by Khloe, the family can be seen laughing as they throw entire trays of food at one another during a sit-down meal outside. Speaking during a confessional, Khloe says: “Am I bothered by this food fight right now? Who the f*** wouldn’t be bothered by this? This is, in any normal person’s world, bizarre, disturbing and unacceptable.” Khloe then tells her family: “If anyone’s comfortable with this I’m gonna question them. This is no way to live,” to which her mother Kris responds: “No, this is no way to live. But if you can laugh at this and breathe then I think you’re doing A-OK.” However, not everyone was amused by the clip, with many people accusing the Kardashians of being “insensitive” and making light of the food waste. “Makes me cringe to think of all the food wasted,” one person commented. Another said: “Meanwhile there are people out there who have no money to buy food…” Others questioned why the family, who are worth billions, would record the “disturbing” scene.

Death row inmate’s lawyers file new legal bid to halt execution

Lawyers for a man scheduled to be executed next week have filed a new legal bid to halt his death sentence. Rodney Reed was convicted of raping and strangling 19-year-old Stacy Stites in 1996 while she was on her way to work at a supermarket in Bastrop, around 30 miles southeast of the Texan city of Austin. The 51-year-old has long maintained that the teenager was killed by her fiance Jimmy Fennell. He has claimed that former police officer was angry about the fact that they were having an affair and that he was black and she was white. His lawyers have now claimed in a new legal filing that seven new witnesses would help prove his innocence. They hope to void the execution writ which was signed in July. Death row in California's San Quentin prison Show all 8 Protesters have staged rallies outside the Bastrop County district attorney’s office and heard from speakers including members of the inmate’s family. Reed's supporters held their biggest protest yet outside Texas governor Greg Abbott's mansion last week. Celebrities including Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and Oprah Winfrey have all called on the Republican to release Reed and around 3 million people have signed a petition to grant clemency to him. Kristina Roth, Amnesty International USA’s senior criminal justice programmes officer, said: “It is deeply disturbing that a consensual intimate relationship between Rodney Reed, a black man, and Stacey Stites, a white woman, was conflated with an act of violence. Killing a person creates a murderer out of the executioner, is not justice for Stacey Stites, and deprives Rodney Reed of dignity and humanity.” She added that the death penalty "is applied disproportionally against people of colour and Rodney Reed’s case is a glaring example."

Kim Kardashian West‘s make-up artist Mario Dedivanovic, who has worked with the reality star for more than a decade, has said he feels “free” after coming out as gay. Dedivanovic, who has seven million followers on Instagram and is an ambassador for cosmetics brand Anastasia Beverly Hills, received the Artist Achievement Award at the American Influencer Awards in Los Angeles. After being presented his accolade by Kardashian West, the make-up artist delivered a powerful speech about how he has been “living in fear”. He explained that a couple of days prior to the ceremony, he told his mother: “I had spent my entire life and childhood suppressing my thoughts, suppressing my dreams, my feelings, my creativity and trying to be invisible so that no one would know how I’m feeling inside.” “I stand here for the first time in my life a proud 37-year-old gay man,” Dedivanovic stated on stage. “I finally feel that bright light that I’ve been dreaming of my whole life is pouring from my soul around my body and it’s mine.”

Kim Kardashian has responded after fans thought they spotted her wearing the 20-carat engagement ring stolen in a Paris raid three years ago. For the beauty mogul’s recent campaign for her KKW Diamonds Collection fragrances, Kardashian posed in a large amount of diamonds, including one ring that resembled the one stolen from the 39-year-old in France during a 2016 robbery. Shortly after sharing pictures from the campaign on social media, fans pointed out the resemblance, with some questioning whether the reality star had had her ring returned. However, according to Kardashian, the Lorraine Schwartz ring wasn’t the original, but rather a replica made by the jeweller. “I borrowed all jewellery from Lorraine Schwartz,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “It was nice to borrow it all and it was nice to give it back to her. “That was a really fun shoot and because it was diamonds, I thought this was the perfect way to bring it back and wear them again.” Kardashian also explained that she relies on Schwartz, who designed both of her engagement rings from Kanye West, because she “always knows the cut and everything that I really wanted”. “So when I want to wear something, I’ll borrow it from her for the day,” she explained, adding that “there is a replica around,” of the stolen engagement ring. gettyimages-185905671.jpg The original ring was never returned (Getty) “A little fake that I’ll borrow from her sometimes that she made. A really nice one. It looks really nice,” she said. Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint during 2016 Paris Fashion Week, when more than $10m in jewels were stolen from the reality star, including her emerald-cut ring valued at $4m. Following the robbery, the KKW Beauty founder told Ellen DeGeneres that she had stopped caring so much about materialistic items and become a different person. “I’m such a different person,” she said. “I really feel like things happen in your life to teach you things.
